How to Take a Quiz in Moodle
This is a step by step guide on how to take an online quiz, test, or exam in Moodle!
First, go to your Moodle course home page and find the quiz you need to take. You can find quiz items by the following icon:
Click on the link for the quiz in the appropriate section of the Moodle course and you will be able to read the directions and see the quiz details, such as the time limit, how many attempts are allowed, and the due date.
Once you are ready to take the quiz, click “Attempt quiz now.” If the quiz covers multiple pages, you will need to click the “Next” button to see the following page. Doing so will automatically save your previous answers.
On the left, you will see a box with the question number, if you have answered the question yet, how many points the question is worth, and a “Flag question” icon. The question itself will be in blue.
On the right, there is a “Quiz navigation” window. You can see how many total questions there are and click the bolded boxed numbers to skip to a specific question number. If you select “Finish Attempt” you will be taken to the final screen of the quiz.
If you want to flag a question to review later, click on the “Flag question” icon in the box to the left of the question.
After the final question, click on the blue “Finish attempt…” button.
You will be taken to a “Summary of attempt” page which will show you whether you have answered all of the quiz questions, as well as any flagged questions. You can go back to any of the questions by clicking on the question number or by clicking “Return to attempt.”
Once you have reviewed your answers and are ready to submit, click on the “Submit all and finish” button on the bottom of the summary page. A final confirmation window will pop up before you finally submit your answers.
Once you click the blue “Submit all and finish” button, you will be able to see the answers to the quiz and your grade. Any long form answers will be reviewed by your professor so grades are subject to change.
