How to Add Restriction in the Moodle Course Page
Moodle has restricted access feature that enables teachers to restrict the availability of the course section. On the course page, click setting and click turn editing on.
Next to each of the movable resources, you will now see the edit buttons. Click edit and click edit week. Keep in mind that depending on whether you have set your course format as weekly format or topic format, the button for editing the setting for this could change. For instance, if you have set your course format as weekly format, it will say edit week. On the other hand, it will say edit topic if you have set your course format as topic format.
On the course summary page, scroll down until you see the section for restricted access. Click add the restriction.
You will now see the new tab for different types of restrictions such as the dates, grades, groups, and even user profile fields. The ‘Restriction set’ button also allows you to add complex criteria by requiring nested conditions. Click the date button.
Next to access restrictions, you will select the date and time for when the students will be allowed to access this course content. Once you select the date and time for restricted access, the course content will not be accessible to students until that date.
After you click save changes and come back to the course page, you will see the icon that says ‘Restricted’ under the date range for the week. The date that starts with from is when this course content will become available to the students.
If you want to restrict students from accessing the content after a certain period of time has passed, you can add the restriction date for until what date that the content will remain accessible to students.
When you come back to the course page, you will see the date range for how long the content will remain accessible to students. The date range that starts with on or after is the date when students can start having access to the content. The date for before end of is the last day that the students can have access to the content.
You can also set restricted access for other contents such as quizzes, assignments, or forums by clicking the following buttons:turn editing on, edit, and edit settings.
After you finish making edits on the course page, click setting and click turn editing off.
