How to Provide Feedback & Grades in Google Classroom
Providing feedback and grades for your Google Classroom assignments is easy with Google’s incorporated systems!
First, on the home page for your course in Google Classroom, click the “Classwork” tab at the top. You will see a list of all your assignments for your class. Click the assignment you would like to grade and then click “View assignment” it will open as a pop-up window.
On the left-hand side you will see a list of all your students. In the middle of the page you will see how many students turned in the assignment and how many total were assigned it. There are multiple ways of viewing student’s progress.
Grading by Specific Student
If you would like to grade by specific student, you can click a student’s name on the left column and then you will see all of their turned in history.Grading by Turned In Work
If you would like to grade by work that has already been submitted, you can click the “Turned in” button on the main grading page to see all of the turned in assignments, or you can click it from the drop down menu below that button. From there, you can click the specific turned in assignments to grade.
Once you have selected a student’s assignment to grade, it will open in a new tab. On the right of the student’s work, there will be a box with grading options. You can edit the final grade for the assignment and add private comments for the student to read.
If you would like to provide specific comments within the assignment, you can click the comment bank button on the left of the grading options to add further notes for the student.
When you are done grading the assignment, you can return it to the student immediately by clicking the blue “Return” button on the top right side. You can also click the arrow and a drop down menu will appear giving you the option to return multiple submissions.
A window will appear and you can select students individually whose grades you would like to return, or you can click the box at the very top to return all students submissions.

Alternatively, you can also return multiple submissions on the main grading page. On the left-hand column where all of your students are listed, you can click each student’s name and then the green “Return” button at the top.
